Having endured over a decade at Valentino as an accessories designer, Pierpaolo Piccioli, has recently taken on a new role as creative director for the house. His pre-fall 2017 presentation was shown within the majestic walls of the Beekman hotel in downtown New York City.
The models strolled through the halls capturing a modern yet romantic air with each step. The hair was pulled back in low elegant ponytails as to not distract from the fragility each garment carried. Even the leather, which would usually appear as the opposing force in such looks, acquired a certain delicacy and softness. Piccioli used the leather to direct a sense of tenderness although the prints were bold from the vibrant colored stripes to the dignified floral pieces.
Translucency combined with earthy tones of green, lavender and gray suited the charming aesthetic of the show. The one gown that had a little more than charm to offer shimmered on the runway in signature Valentino red. The sheer gowns were bountiful but well accompanied with floral dresses paired with knee high boots that were just as graceful. And if those looks didn’t lure you in enough, onlookers couldn’t help but be enchanted with the iridescent final look that glistened across the floor from the neck down.
